We will be hosting our community Midsommar Celebration from 2:00 – 4:30 pm on Sunday, June 29th. Midsommar has a long history in Duluth, dating back many decades.
We’ll be keeping the tradition alive again this year, but we’ll be at a new location. This year we will host our activities at Christ Lutheran Church, located at 2415 Ensign Street in Duluth’s Piedmont Heights neighborhood.
We will, of course, decorate and raise our Majstång, make flower crowns, and provide craft projects to keep the young and not-so-young involved. At 3:00 pm, the Majstång will be raised, followed by singing and ring dancing. Food will be available throughout the celebration.
An addition to Midsommar this year will be a Scandinavian Bake Sale! We’ll be asking for donations of homemade baked goods that we can package up and sell at Midsommar. We are asking for donations of Swedish (and other Scandinavian} treats and delicacies.
So, mark Sunday, June 29th on your calendar, and plan to attend.
Guest Policy – Guests are absolutely welcome to join us for our programs. You’ll be treated to Fika (coffee and treats) for free. Invite your friends as well. Just let the greeter know that you heard about the event online and that you’d like to be a guest. We look forward to seeing you and hearing about your nordic heritage or interest in nordic culture.
